SHORTGAME HANDICAP
Isolate, Calculate and Improve
Work out your short game handicap. Go on, be ruthless.

The biggest obstacle to improving your game is not knowing where your real weaknesses lie. Golfers at every level alternate between good shots and bad shots, so patterns can be hard to detect. But if you can isolate the part of your game where you make the worst errors, you can focus your practice and increase the speed of your improvement.

But getting a clear look at your game is not easy. Golfers often see what they want to see, not what’s really there. And that’s why you need to keep statistics on where you take your strokes from.

The short game is described as all shots played within 50 yards of the green. So your short game handicap indicates your proficiency in that area.

Two Ways to work out your Shortgame Handicap
  1. Use my Shortgame Handicap System , which has great visual directions, and fully downloadable PDF instructions, by clicking here. Shots tested in the system range from long range pitches (50 yds / 45m) all the way down to the ‘confidence testing’ short putts (3 ft / 0.5m).
